Dare County Board of Commissioners meets Monday, Feb. 5, at 9 a.m., in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the county’s Administration Building, Manteo.

The agenda includes a presentation on the Mirlo Centennial set for August, 2018 at the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station, Rodanthe, and an update on NCDOT projects underway in the county.

It is time to begin updating the Land Use Plan for unincorporated areas of the county. The commissioners are asked to designate the county’s Planning Director Donna Creef as the Planner-in-Charge, tap the county’s Planning Board as the Land Use Plan steering committee and instruct staff to begin developing a Public Participation Plan and online questionnaire.

Also on the agenda is a conditional use application for a home occupation submitted by Giovanna Calvillo for a beauty salon at 1386 N. Hwy. 64/264, Manteo.

The commissioners are asked to approve a four-year agreement with Potter & Company, PA for audit services. The agenda packet states “Rather than conduct a new audit RFP, and at the recommendation of staff, the Audit Committee voted to ask Potter & Company to renew for a new four year agreement subject to an annual fee increase limited to no more than 2%. The new contract is for $65,175, an increase of 1.995% over FY 2017.”

The commissioners will consider a resolution supporting the current model of delivering services to those with mental health problems, developmental disabilities and substance use disorders. That model or system currently in place is Local Management Entities serving as Managed Care Organizations. The agency using this model to deliver services in Dare and 24 other counties in eastern North Carolina is Trillium. The resolution is addressed to the General Assembly.

A public hearing will be held on the supplement to the Dare County Code of Ordinances. The supplement contains the amendments adopted by the Board of Commissioners in calendar year 2017.
