WANCHESE – Tommie Davis Daniels, 83, of Wanchese died Wednesday, January 31 at Peak Resources – Outer Banks. A native of Wanchese, he was the son of the late Gladys Richardson Daniels and Ruford Anderson Daniels.

A United States Army veteran, Tommie served his country honorably for 9 years and 10 months. He was also a recipient of The Order of the Long Leaf Pine award.

Tommie is survived by his wife, Edna Midgett Daniels; five children: Cindy Daniels of Nags Head, Denise Daniels of Raleigh, Kevin Daniels (Karla) of Anderson, S.C., Yoyo Daniels of Wanchese, and William Daniels of Wanchese; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Reba Conrad of Tega Cay, S.C. and Laura Paul of Winterville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Tommie was preceded in death by four siblings: Thelma Baum, Viola Luke, Robert Daniels, and Dennie Daniels.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, at Twiford Colony Chapel with Pastor Kenny Midgett officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
