A large room is overflowing with glamorous gowns in a multitude of colors.

Several caring volunteers are sorting gowns by size and hanging the beautiful creations. Some gowns are shimmering with beads. Some present elegant, classic simplicity. Some are long; others are short. But all the gowns are beautiful!

The volunteers are getting ready of the fourth annual Project Glam Girl Boutique.

Project Founder Quinn Capps reports that all the gowns are donated. Supporters from as far away as New York and Louisiana have shipped gowns for the Boutique.

This is the fourth annual boutique. Capps says the first year 25 people used Glam Girls project. The next year 80 young people visited the boutique and last year visitors numbered 100. That’s over 200 prom dreams come true with a beautiful gown, jewelry, shoes, handbags and nail polish.

This year, the Project Glam Girls Boutique is located at Manteo Faith Baptist Church, 1037 Burnside Rd., Manteo.

The boutique was open Thursday, Feb. 22 and Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 24, the boutique is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Drop off locations made it convenient to contribute to the project. Capps went on four radio stations to promote the project and asked for men’s suits and tuxedos. On the last pick up for this year, folks had indeed donated men’s suits and tuxedos.

The project is supported by private donations and caring volunteers. The only expense is $1,000 for storage for the year and those dollars have been raised for this year.

To contribute for storage for next year, checks payable to Manteo Faith Baptist Church may be sent to P.O. Box 5, Manteo, NC 27954, with a memo “Women of Faith Project Glam Girls.
