College of The Albemarle has entered into an additional articulation agreement on nursing with East Carolina University.

The new agreement allows COA students earning an Associate Degree in Nursing the opportunity to be dual enrolled and take courses in the university’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the same time.

COA Nursing already has an agreement with the university for the Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses program. This current program focuses on high school seniors transitioning to dual enrollment between the two nursing programs.

The additional program agreement outlines courses, the transfer of courses between the college and university and the requirements for students to be concurrently enrolled. This program is geared to students who are already progressing in college-level coursework under the North Carolina nursing articulation agreement.

Students electing the alternate or additional program must complete all first year general education and prerequisite courses satisfactorily with a “C” or better at the college. The students then must be accepted into college’s Associate Degree in Nursing program and then apply to the alterative program.
