Hyde County candidates sign up

In Hyde County, candidates are set for the 2018 political season. The filing deadline was Noon, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018.

Carl “Guire” Cahoon, a Democrat, has signed up to retain the office of Sheriff.

For the Hyde County Board of Commissioners for the Swan Quarter Township, two Democrats are running for the seat: Joseph “Joey” Williams, and James “Little Brother” Topping.

In the Currituck Township, Ken Collier, a Republican, has registered as a candidate for the Board of Commissioners.

Running for the office of Hyde County Clerk of Superior Court is Brandy C. Pugh, Democrat and incumbent officeholder.

Signing up to run for Hyde County Register of Deeds is E. Merita Lewis-Spencer, Democrat and incumbent.

For the Swan Quarter Sanitary District supervisor, candidates are Seldon Taylor, Jeffrey Stotesberry and J.C. Williams.

For the Ocracoke Sanitary District supervisor, candidates are Ronnie T.O’Neal, Flavia Burton and William A. Caswell.

For the Engelhard Sanitary District supervisors, candidates are Tommy Etheridge and Charles Gibbs Jr.

For Hyde County Board of Education at-large come three candidates: Democrats Lindsey Mooney and Myra Chandler and Republican Aleta Cox.

For the Hyde County Board of Education from Ocracoke, Angela Todd, a Democrat, will run for the office.
