Basic SKYWARN class set for March 19 in Rodanthe

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City will be conducting a Basic SKYWARN (weather spotters) training class on March 19 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The class will be held at the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Building, located at 23646 NC 12, Rodanthe.

This class trains volunteers to report severe weather to the National Weather Service.

The class is free and open to everyone; no age requirements, previous training, or equipment is required. The class is being hosted by the Hatteras Island Community Emergency Response Team.

The SKYWARN program is a nationwide program that provides real-time severe weather reports to the National Weather Service.

There are a limited number of seats so please register if you plan on attending. Register by calling (252) 223-5122, ext. 5.
