The North Carolina High School Athletic Association and Wells Fargo, have announced the final standings in the Wells Fargo Conference Cup competitions for the 2018 winter sports season.

The Wells Fargo Cup award, sponsored by Wells Fargo and the NCHSAA, recognizes the schools that achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performance within each of the state’s four competitive classifications.

The Wells Fargo Conference Cup is a companion to the Wells Fargo Cup and recognizes schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within individual conferences.

In most conferences, points are awarded based on participation and standings in conference play. Each conference determines its own method of awarding points.

Class 2A Conference Results show First Flight in first place in the Northeastern Coastal 2A. First Flight is in first place after the winter sports season thanks to championships in men’s and women’s swimming. In second place is Currituck County with a wrestling championship and a second-place finish in men’s swimming. Northeastern is in third place with a men’s basketball championship and a second-place finish in women’s swimming. Conference Standings: First Flight 55, Currituck County 47, Northeastern 45, Pasquotank County 32, Hertford County 31, Bertie 17.

In Class 1A are two area conferences.

Albemarle Athletic 1A: John A. Holmes is the conference leader after the winter sports season thanks to championships in women’s swimming, men’s basketball and wrestling along with a second-place finish in men’s swimming. In second place is Manteo with second-place finishes in wrestling, women’s swimming and women’s basketball along with a third-place finish in men’s swimming. Camden County is in third place with a men’s swimming championship and a third-place finish in women’s swimming. Conference Standings: John A. Holmes 52.5, Manteo 48.5, Camden County 35, Gates County 26.5, Perquimans 20.5, Plymouth 16.

Atlantic 6 1A: With a second-place finish in women’s basketball and a tied second-place finish in men’s basketball, Bear Grass Charter is the conference leader after the winter sports season. In second place is Cape Hatteras with a women’s basketball championship. Ocracoke is in third place with a men’s basketball championship and a tied third-place finish in women’s basketball. Conference Standings: Bear Grass Charter 21.5, Cape Hatteras 19, Ocracoke 13.5, Columbia 12, Creswell 11, Mattamuskeet 7.
