A Saturday search warrant served in Kitty Hawk led to the arrest of 40-year-old Shawn Kenneth LaBlue in connection with a burglary in Duck.

Duck police, with the aid of Kitty Hawk police, served the search warrant about 6 p.m. March 24 at a home on Angler Way in Kitty Hawk.

Numerous items of personal property reported stolen from a home in Currituck County were located and seized from the suspect’s home and vehicle including electronics, jewelry, power tools, and a suppressed rifle, police said.

Following the search, LaBlue was charged with one count each of felony breaking and entering and larceny, police said.

A notice from Duck police said the search warrant and arrest was the culmination of a 35-day investigation led by Master Police Officer Joe Knight into six breaking and entering crimes reported in the Town of Duck.
Duck Police Chief Cueto expressed his gratitude and pride over the work each of his officers put into the investigation. He said Knight’s efforts employing both technology and good, old-fashioned police work ensured the suspect will be held accountable for his actions.

LaBlue was taken to the Dare County Detention Center and placed under a $35,000 secured bond. Additional charges against LaBlue are expected, including five additional counts of felony breaking and entering and larceny, felony possession of stolen property, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.

Police said evidence obtained in the Town of Duck’s investigation will likely lead to additional charges in neighboring jurisdictions.
