NAGS HEAD, NC – Tommie Daniels, 94, of Nags Head, died at his home, on Saturday, March 24. He was born in Manteo, on June 7, 1923. He was predeceased by his parents, Moncie Lee and Belva Midgett Daniels; brother, Moncie Daniels, Jr.; and sister, Cora Mae Daniels Basnight. Tommie is sur-vived by a daughter, Linda Daniels Harris and husband Jim, of Manns Harbor; two sons, Thomas Daniels and wife Holly of Kill Devil Hills and Karl Daniels and wife Debby of Southern Shores; five grandchildren, Hunt Daniels, Jimmie Harris, Jonathan Daniels, Shawn Daniels and Lauren Daniels; and seven great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his employees and friends, Debbie Terry and Wade Jones.

After serving in the Merchant Marines in the 1940’s, Tommie Daniels returned home to Manteo, where he managed several business ventures at once. He owned Tommie’s Used Cars and the Original Ben Franklin in Downtown Manteo. Later he opened his successful Ben Franklin in Nags Head where he continued to work, daily, until he passed away.  Upon his wishes, the family intends to carry on his legacy by continuing opera-tions there.

Tommie was fortunate to have traveled the world over, seeing many other countries, islands, and cultures. Mr. Daniels spent many years in the Florida Keys, where he owned a home that was always open to family and friends for their enjoyment. He took interest in boating and fishing and his passion was working in his business with the customers and employees.

Tommie had the unique ability to befriend people of all ages and back-grounds. He had friends, young and old, all over the United States.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 27,  at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Mann and Rev. Dr. John Dutton officiating. Private burial will take place at Manteo Cemetery.
