COLINGTON, NC – Wilbur M. Turpin died March 27.  He was born on April 30, 1929 to the late Charles Noel Turpin and Florida Evans Turpin in Rosedale, GA. In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Culpepper Turpin.

Wilbur served in the Army, Army Reserves, and the Coast Guard for a total of 29 years. During this time, he fought in the Korean War and served two terms in Vietnam; retiring from the Coast Guard in 1975 as a Chief Gunners Mate.

Wilbur is survived by his daughter, Fay Beasley (Darrell) of Colington ; his twin sister, Betty Howell of Lexington, SC; two brothers, Charles Turpin of Lorton, VA and James Turpin of Jacksonville, FL as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
