NAGS HEAD, NC – Jimmy W. Sovia, 93, of Nags Head, NC, died Saturday, March 31. Born in Switchback, WV, he was the son of the late Thomas and Anna Liss Sovia.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Margaret (Marge) M. Sovia; three daughters, Margaret (Peg) L. Kopacz (Ron, deceased), Pamela A. Schuler (Nobel), Becky J. Sovia (Cruiser Midgett); four grandchildren, Jason Schuler (Kristina) of Celle, Germany, Allison Lebron (Gene) of Alma, MI, Cameron Schuler (Brittney) of Portland, OR, and Jillion Schuler of Nags Head, NC; and four great-grandchildren, Luca, Nico, Mica Lebron, and Liam Schuler.
He resided in Berkley, Michigan for over 50 years. Jim became a part-time resident of the Outer Banks in 1966 and moved full time to the OBX in 2000.
A remembrance gathering of Jimmy’s life will be held at Mulligan’s Restaurant in Nags Head, on Thursday, April 5, 2018, from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jimmy’s name be made to Outer Banks Family YMCA, 3000 S. Croatan Hwy, Nags Head, NC 27959 or Dare Hospice, PO Box 669, Manteo, NC 27954.
