Margaret Brickhouse Cahoon

COLUMBIA, NC – Margaret Brickhouse Cahoon, 92, of Columbia died Saturday, March 31 surrounded by family. Born January 11, 1926 in Tyrrell County she was the daughter of the late Howard Johnson Brickhouse and Maude Ella Godwin Brickhouse and was preceded in death by her husbands, Alton Jack Cahoon and Willard Luther Cahoon; son, Glynn Thomas Cahoon KIA Vietnam; grandson, Blake Edmond Cahoon; seven brothers, Winifred Brick-house, Isaac Brickhouse, Wilbert Brickhouse, Mary-land Brickhouse, Elesbara Brickhouse, Johnson Brickhouse and Clarence Brickhouse. She was a Gold Star Mother and most recently received a Certi-ficate of Appreciate from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States as a Patriot Circle Member for her long term support of the VFW.

Her family includes her children; Jacqueline C. Smith and husband Alvin, James W. Cahoon and wife Kathy, Ginger C. Hassell and husband Chris and Anita C. Simpson and husband Travis all of Columbia, N.C.; grandchildren, Angela M. Smith, Rhonda H. Bracey, Alvin R. “Buddy” Smith, Vanessa H. Johnson, Glynn R. Smith, Anthony J. Simpson, Katherine C. Alphin, Travis P. “Scott” Simpson, Christopher T. Hassell and Chelsea M. Hassell; ten great grand-children and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were to be held Tuesday, April 3 at Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church with Rev-erend Royce Reynolds officiating. Burial followed in Azalea Memorial Gardens.
