SWAN QUARTER, NC – Lois Ann Sanderson Carawan, 80, of Swan Quarter, died, unexpectedly Sunday April 1, 2018 at her home.

Born in Hyde County, October 31, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Earl Thomas and Adell Rose Sanderson. She was married to John Alvin Carawan who preceded her in death.

She was a long time member of Christís Church of Rose Bay where she held various positions including Sunday School teacher, Church Treasurer and Secretary. She was a member of LIFT, Ladies In Faith Together.

To her church family, extended family and Swan Quarter Fire Department Family she was simply known as Granny, she liked to shop and spend time with her family.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 6, at Christís Church of Rose Bay. Phil Emmert, Linwood Smith and Daniel Davenport officiated. Burial followed in the family plot in Soule Cemetery.

Surviving is a daughter, Jennifer C. Stotesberry and husband, Jeffrey; a son, Maxwell Carawan and his significant other, Ila Bender both of Swan Quarter; five grandchildren, John Thomas Stotesberry, Jeffrey Scott Stotesberry, Christopher Wayne Carawan, Jackie Ann Bolton and Kenny Carawan; seven great grandchildren, Jason, Shannon, Kaleb, Chris, Jazmine, Star and Dade.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Earl Sanderson.
