The Frisco Native American Museum and Natural History Center will present Discovery Days: Ancestral Native American Village, April 28 and 29.

The event, at the Frisco museum, will offer two days of fun and educational experiences for families.

For Discovery Days, visitors will be greeted by contemporary artists as they enter the event area but trappings of the twenty-first century will slowly disappear as they move through the nature trail and cross the small foot bridge leading to the village area.

A special ceremony at noon with Native American drummers and singers will help dance everyone from the present to a time before European contact.

Presenters in period-accurate clothing will share a wide array of programs. Native American food will be available as well as beautiful crafts made by native artists.

Participants will have the opportunity to talk with a flute maker, explore a long house, learn about the original inhabitants of Hatteras Island, make a pinch pot, interact with a native storyteller, get a tattoo, see demonstrations of native survival skills, make an animal track, share friendship dances in the ceremonial circle, forage for fossils, use shells to scrape a dugout canoe, and more.

Admission to the museum will include all activities which begin at 10 a.m. both days and continue until 5 p.m., rain or shine. For more information, contact the museum at (252) 995-4440 or visit the museum web site at nativeamericanmuseum.org.
