Jet skier rescued in Currituck

A jet skier who lost power while traveling home to Moyock from the Whalehead Club in Corolla was rescued Saturday evening by first responders from Currituck fire and emergency services, the Corolla Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Corolla Beach Rescue and the sheriff’s office.

The incident happened about 7 p.m., according to a report by WTKR.

Medics evaluated the man and then took him home, the station reported.

“Please maintain constant vigilance over the ever-changing weather conditions on the Currituck Sound,” Corolla Beach Rescue Chief Operator told the station. “When you operate a small craft, make sure you have a clear communications plan with someone onshore; and make sure they call for assistance early if you don’t arrive at the expected time.”
