NOAA has released its list of Atlantic tropical and subtropical storm names for 2018, and even before the official start of hurricane season on June 1, the first name on the list. Alberto, formed in the Gulf of Mexico.

The remaining storm names for this hurricane season are: Beryl, Chris, Debby, Ernesto, Florence, Gordon and Helene, Isaac, Joyce, Kirk, Leslie, Michael, Nadine, Oscar, Patty, Rafael, Sara, Tony, Valerie and William.

Hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30 and North Carolina is one of the leading states for hurricane damage.
