Nov. 8, 1927 – May 31, 2018

Doris Hassell Twiddy, 90, of Columbia, died Thursday, May 31, 2018. A native of East Lake, she was the daughter of the late Lillie Cain Hassell and James Clinton Hassell and the widow of Jesse Seaton Twiddy, Jr.

A longtime member of East Lake Holiness Church, Doris was a homemaker.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Betsy Sethman of Columbia and Yulonda Leach of Manns Harbor; a son, JC Twiddy of Manns Harbor; eight grandchildren, Doris K. Pledger, Kenny Ray, Kevin Leach, Nora Leach, William Leach, Skylar Parker, Zack Twiddy and Austin Twiddy; 12 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Kyle, Lillian, Bella, Leeland, Tori, Jesse, Savannah, Katniss, Willow, Carson, and Aiden; and two great-great-grandchildren, Rileigh and James.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at East Lake Holiness Church with Pastors Anthony Ralph and Asa Lowe officiating. Private burial will take place at the East Lake United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo.
