Dare County crime blotter for May

The Dare County Sheriff’s Blotter has released covering felony crimes in unincorporated Dare County from May 1 through May 29. 

Reported crimes numbered six on Hatteras Island, four in Colington, three on Roanoke Island and one in Manns Harbor. 

In Avon, counterfeit currency was used. In Buxton, identity theft was reported.

May 2: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 100 block of Cannon Trial, Roanoke Island. Medication and money stolen from unlocked vehicle. 

May 3: Larceny. 100 block of Pine Cone Trial, Colington. Money stolen. 

Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicles. 4000 block of Mill Landing Rd., Wanchese. Vehicles vandalized. 

Breaking and Entering and Larceny. 24000 block of NC Hwy. 12, Rodanthe. Money reported stolen. 

May 4: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 500 block of Colington Dr., Colington. Phone scam. 

May 7: Identity Theft. 46000 block of Old Lighthouse Road, Buxton. Fraudulent bank account. 

May 17: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 42000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Avon. Counterfeit currency used to purchase items. 

May 21: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 51000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Frisco. Camera stolen from unlocked vehicle. 

May 22: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 1800 block of Colington Rd., Colington. Wallet stolen from unlocked vehicle. 

Breaking and Entering and Larceny. 7000 block of Hassell Rd., Manns Harbor. Household items stolen. 

May 24: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 22000 block of Sea Gull St., Rodanthe. Book bag stolen from unlocked vehicle. 

May 26: Larceny of Motor Vehicle. 100 block of Margaret Court, Roanoke Island. Vehicle stolen and recovered. 

May 28: Arson. 1000 block of Colington Rd., Colington. Building exterior burned. 

May 29: Larceny of Motor Vehicle. 47000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Buxton. Moped stolen.
