KDH police to would-be thief: ‘Confession is good for the soul’

Kill Devil Hills police released a security video Thursday of a man attempting to break into a a pickup truck on S. Memorial Boulevard, and noted there’s reward for information leading to his arrest.

Police also had a message for the would-be thief.

“If the individual in the video recognizes himself, feel free to drop by for a chat. You will not be eligible for a reward, but confession is good for the soul,” the department said in a Facebook post.

Police said they’ve seen an uptick in vehicle break-in’s reported in the Kill Devil Hills area, with a number of those occuring between the highways.

Video from a security camera recently captured a man attempting to break into a white Ford pickup truck in the 1200 block of S. Memorial Boulevard. The suspect was a white male, early 20s, slim build, approximately 5 feet 10 to 6 foot 1, wearing a blue shirt, blue shorts and black tennis shoes. The man had short dark hair, wore one glove and had a murse (man purse) or something similar around his neck.
