Letter: Kitty Hawk needs recycling program

Published 10:35 am Wednesday, June 13, 2018

We have stayed in Kitty Hawk at a Joe Lamb cottage on the beach five times now over the years. We just celebrated out 25th anniversary and had a nice dinner at the Black Pelican. We enjoy the beach, bicycling about and arts.

What we don’t enjoy is the lack of recycling. It seems very primitive to be throwing away cans, bottles and newspapers in the trash. When you consider all the bars and restaurants that do this, you realize thousands of pounds of recyclables are just thrown away. It’s a real turn-off. Please get a recycling program going.

Editor’s note: Kitty Hawk offers recycling centers and Outer Banks Hauling provides voluntary curbside recycling for a fee.
