Alan Frederick Furner, 67, of Manteo, died June 12, 2018. He was born in Earlville, New York on July 11, 1950 to Charles Frederick Furner and Laura Tarbell Furner.

Alan graduated Earlville High School. He spent much of his life in upstate New York, where he was employed as a manager at Cheseboroh Ponds. Later, he worked for both Colgate University and SUNY Morrisville. He relocated to Manteo to be near his grandchildren.

Alan was predeceased by his parents and sisters Linda Wyman, Peggy Zeidner and Maris Furner. Also, by brothers David “Mike” Furner and Lauraence “Larry” Furner.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Deborah Furner. He is also survived by his daughter, Kelly Roberts and husband Chris of Manteo, and a son, Dr. Christopher Paul Furner and wife Dr. Zhan Furner of Winterville. Alan is also survived by a sister, Marcia Parker of Earlville, and brothers, Tim (Jean) Furner, and Charles Furner of Earlville, plus many nieces and nephews.

No memorial service has been planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dare County Hospice 109 Exeter St, Manteo, NC 27954.
