Ronald Ray Spruill, Sr., 84, of Edenton died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Vidant Chowan Hospital in Edenton.

Born March 26, 1934 in Washington County he was the son of the late Samuel D. Spruill and Melinda Furlough Spruill and was preceded in death by his sister, Ida Barbara Spruill Brown. Ray was a retired store manager with McCrory Stores and member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served on the Washington County United Way Board.

His family includes his wife, Margaret Amy Weaver Spruill of Edenton; sons, Ronald R. Spruill, Jr. and wife Teresa of Smithsburg, Maryland, Samuel S. Spruill and wife Lorraine of Creswell, and James W. Spruill and wife Marsha of Elizabeth City; sister, Garland Spruill Rea of Roper, and brother, Samuel G. Spruill of Edenton; nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held Friday, June 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Roper with Royce Williams and J.N. Worsley officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday in the church fellowship hall from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
