Ethel M. Hurley

Ethel M. Hurley was born as Ethel M. Looker and first widowed as Ethel Hill from her WWII US Marine first husband, Franklin Van Dyke Hill. She then was blessed with 55 years of marriage to Lawrence B. Hurley who died in 2009.   Ethel was called to glory June 16, 2018 at age 98, after a short illness.

She was born in Wertsville, New Jersey and graduated from Flemington High School in 1938.  Ethel worked many and various jobs; as a dress maker, clerk in a canning factory, making wings for planes in World War II and at Hopewell’s Savings and Loan.

Ethel and Larry Hurley retired to Myrtle Beach, where they spent 30 years. Ethel also lived with her daughter in Kitty Hawk for three years in her own suite.

Ethel was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Surfside, South Carolina.

Ethel is survived by her only child, Barbara (nee Hill) Isler with husband Albert Isler; plus a granddaughter, Rachael; two grandsons with their wives Matthew/ MaiLan and Jacob Mark/Jessica, and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for July 2, 2018 at Trinity Presbyterian Church 2061 Glenns Bay Road Surfside Beach, SC 29575.
