Floyd “Froggy” Rhodes

Floyd “Froggy” Rhodes, 86, long time resident of Columbia and more recently residing in Raleigh, died on Wednesday evening, July 25, 2018, at The Cardinal at North Hills in Raleigh after a lengthy illness. 

A Tyrrell County native, he was born July 2, 1932, the son of the late Joseph Rhodes and Lona Reynolds Rhodes and was married to the former Lucy Jones who survives.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, attended the Columbia Missionary Baptist Church and loved Tyrrell County and its people.  He was a retired sales representative with the former H. E. Harrison Wholesale Company of Plymouth. 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Columbia Chapel of Bryan Funeral Service.  Rev. Royce Reynolds and Rev. Gina Miller will officiate.  Interment will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kathy Rhodes Swain and her husband, Guy and a granddaughter, Kelly Swain Esposito and husband, Michael all of Raleigh.  Special thanks are also extended to his two very special caregivers, Marquita Griffin and Tameshia Harper. 

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, W. A. Rhodes and Russell Rhodes. 

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, Eastern N. C. Chapter, 3131 RDU Center Drive, Suite 100, Morrisville, 27560. 

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service  between 1 and 3 p.m.
