Barbara Eunice Barnes Smith White

Barbara Eunice Barnes Smith White, 92, of Creswell died Friday, July 27, 2018, at her daughter’s residence in Plymouth.

Born Sept. 8, 1925 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Harry Primrose Barnes, Sr. and Adelia Spruill Barnes and was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Henry Smith, Sr. and Willard White; son, Stafford Barnes Smith; brother, Harry P. Barnes, Jr. and step-mother, Essie Davenport Barnes. Barbara was a retired bookkeeper and secretary, past worthy matron and member of the Order of The Eastern Star and member of Mount Hermon United Methodist Church.

Her family includes her daughters, Yvonne Smith Ambrose and husband Bruce Whitfield of Plymouth, and Adelia Smith Malatesta and husband Richard Cox of Kill Devil Hills; son, Thomas H. Smith, Jr. and wife Sandra of Satellite Beach, Florida; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held Monday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church, Creswell with the Rev. Chris O’Briant officiating. Family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 3739 National Drive, Raleigh, 27612.
