Shell-fishing closed in Pamlico Sound

All the Pamlico Sound waters along Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo remain closed to shellfish harvesting, according to North Carolina Marine Fisheries.

The area will remain closed until sometime next week when additional water sampling is conducted.

The same state proclamation, effective at sunrise, Friday, Aug. 3, reopened the following areas to normal closure boundaries: Bogue Sound, a portion of Bay River, Jones Bay, Oyster Creek (Pamlico County), James Creek, Middle Prong, Clark Creek, Spencer Bay, Germantown Bay, Rose Bay, Croatan Sound, and Roanoke Sound.

North Carolina Marine Fisheries Proclamation PA-90-2018 reopened the following areas to normal closure boundaries: a portion of Bogue Sound, Hoop Pole Creek, Tar Landing Bay, Ocracoke Island and a portion of Hatteras Island. This proclamation was effective at sunrise, Thursday, Aug. 2.

All re-openings are due to satisfactory bacteriological sampling results.

Additional areas in Carteret and Pamlico counties remain closed.
