Ruby Hassell Bowen Gurganus, 91, of Plymouth died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at her daughter’s residence in Wendell.

Born Dec. 12, 1926 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late Timothy Milton Bowen and Minnie Loraine Sitterson Bowen and was preceded in death by her husband, William Dembie Gurganus; daughter, Brenda Carol Gurganus Whitford; sister, Mittie Paul; brothers, Wilson Bowen and David Bowen.  Ruby was a retired cost accountant with Weyerhaeuser Corporation working for 50 years, a member of Plymouth Lion’s Club and member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

Her family includes her daughter, Teresa Lynn Gurganus of Wendell; son-in-law, Chuck Whitford of Jamesville; grandchildren, Leanne Bloom and husband Nick and Cristy Johnson and husband Spike; great grandchildren, Roxie, Tyson and Scout.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 1 p.m. at Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 6- 8 p.m. at Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the residence.
