Hettie Tillett Cudworth, 86, of Wanchese, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at her home surrounded by family.

A Wanchese native, she was born Jan. 2, 1932, to the late Kathryn Cushman Tillett and Earl V. Tillett. Hettie was a homemaker and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Moile “JM” Cudworth; a sister, Rose T. Hewitt; and a brother, Ernie V. Tillett.

Hettie is survived by three daughters, Connie C. Bateman (Mitchell) of Wanchese, Cammie C. Daniels (Chris) of Hampton, Virginia, and Katie C. Furr (Andy) of Wilmington; one son, Duane “Jay” Cudworth of Manteo; grandchildren, Heidi Swanson, Carmen Allen, Stephen Bateman, Justin Bateman, Madison Midgett, Christian Cudworth, Andrew Furr, Jr., Landen Furr, and Daniel Furr; three great-grandchildren and one sister, Eleanor T. Meekins of Wanchese.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Davenport, Rev. David Daniels, and Rev. Kenny Midgett officiating. Burial will take place in Cudworth Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo.
