\Alvin Lee Melvin, 62, of Plymouth died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Born July 1, 1955 in Lenoir County he was the son of the late Ottis Luther Melvin and Dorothy Narveson Melvin and was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Norman Melvin and brothers, Andrew Luther Melvin and Joseph Leo Melvin. Alvin was a retired loader operator with Melvin Brothers Logging and member of Plymouth Church of the Nazarene.

His family includes his daughters, Jennifer Andrews of Elizabeth City, and Amy Lynn Melvin of Williamston; son, Charles Batten of Los Angeles; sisters, Hilda Melvin Swain of Plymouth, and Helen Melvin Pittman of Pinetown; grandchildren, Rebecca Andrews, Carol Andrews, Lauren Andrews, Lincoln Cook and Jackson Cook.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth with Pastor Steve Creech officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 23 following the service at Maitland Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
