Charles Lee Gibson, 58, of Kitty Hawk, died Monday, September 3, 2018.

Born in North Hollywood, CA on July 29, 1960, he was the son of the late Mary Shepard and Herman Lee Gibson.

Upon the death of his mother, Charlie moved to Chesapeake, Virginia to be raised by his father until the age 13. Charlie was then raised by his late uncle and aunt, Mack and Martha Quinn with his three “brother” cousins.

In addition to his parents and aunt and uncle, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Quinn; and aunts and uncles, Bob and Kathryn Watkins, Hoot Gibson, and Clara Heinen.

Charlie has lived on the Outer Banks since 1978 and is survived by his two beloved sons, Andrew “Andy” Scotlee Gibson, 21, and Thomas Lee Gibson, 18, along with their mother, Sharon Lynn Gibson.

In addition, he leaves behind brothers, Steven C. Quinn and Keith W. Quinn (Cheryl); uncle, Dave Heinen; and cousins, Bobby Watkins (Diane), Dawn Renee Shay, Catherine Parsons and Ralla Heinen. He has a plethora of nieces and nephews who loved their uncle Chuck, Shaun C. Quinn (Kelly), Kevin T. Quinn (Katie), Matthew S. Quinn, Dana M. Quinn, Stephanie Quinn Kramlik (Bart), Daniel Watkins (Heather), and Michelle Medlin.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held in the fall. Family and friends will be notified.
