Ralph Hodges III

Ralph Hinton Hodges III, 70, of Tarboro, former longtime resident of Dare County, died Sunday, September 2, 2018, at The Fountains at The Albemarle.

Born in Beaufort County on January 3, 1948, he was the son of the late Peggy Shaffer Hodges and Ralph Hinton Hodges, Jr.

Ralph enjoyed a long career as a real estate agent with a passion for golf, reading and travel.  He served his community in countless ways and was an active member of the Kitty Hawk Rotary Club.  Ralph was a member of St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church.

Ralph is survived by his sister, Lou Hodges Cleaver (Eric) of Manteo; maternal aunt and godmother, Ann Carr Shaffer Stroud of Greensboro; step-daughter, Lauren Rutherford Perry (George) of Colerain; step-grandson, George “Ivey” Perry IV; two nephews, John Eric Cleaver, Jr. of Stumpy Point and Ralph Hodges Cleaver (Brittany) of Manteo; two great-nephews, Kai and Ryland Cleaver; and many cousins.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to NCBA Foundation for Camp Challenge, PO Box 19999, Raleigh, NC 27619 or the OBX SPCA, PO Box 2477, Manteo, NC 27954.
