Dare EMS deployed four employees, an advanced life support ambulance and a quick response vehicle to join a multi-jurisdictional Ambulance Strike Team.

The strike team is a group of five ambulances of the same type with common communications and a leader.

The deployment and activities are coordinated through the NC State Emergency Operation Center.

Their deployment is expected to last for three days, upon which time we will rotate fresh crews into the deployment team for the next operational period.

The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department was deployed Saturday to Newport to help with response and recovery efforts. Firefighter AJ Crist, Capt. Jon Gates, chaplain and Sgt. Steve Siegrist and Deputy Chief Frank Roepcke answered the call.
