Wine and culinary festival set for Sept. 29

The Roanoke Island Historical Association’s 2nd Annual Lost Colony Wine and Culinary Festivalopens with the vintner’s dinner on Friday, Sept. 28 followed by the grand tasting on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The grand tasting will take place on the grounds of the storied outdoor drama, “The Lost Colony.”  Attendees will taste over 100 wines from around the world, discover local craft beers, sample savory local fare and enjoy live entertainment. This year, the beer garden has been expanded to include local breweries and regional craft beers, two additional local eateries, and a second band.

Food will be available from 10 Outer Banks restaurants including Argyle’s, Basnight’s Lone Cedar Café, BlueWater Grill & Raw Bar, Café Lachine, The Dunes, Ortega’z, Pamlico Jack’s, Pigman’s Bar-B-Que, Southern Shores Pizza and Ten O Six.

The event also features seminar sessions, including “Uncovering the Mystery of Sparkling Wine,” “Wines and Hard Cider from the Russian River Valley” and “Taking the Mystery out of the Craft Beer Aisle.”

The festival opens Sept. 28 with the vintner’s dinner featuring Virginia Dare wines at 108 Budleigh St. in downtown Manteo.  A multi-course meal will be fabulously paired with the wines by Chef Sam McGann of the Blue Point.

The grand tasting event follows at  1 p.m. Sept. 29 for VIP ticket holders and 2 p.m. for general admission. The event benefits The Lost Colony. Tickets are now on sale at www.TLCwinefest.com.
