Zona Ann Purkey, 78, of Kitty Hawk died Monday, October 22 at Concordia Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Elizabeth City.

Born in Madison County on March 6, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Coates Davis and Grady Davis. Zona worked as a hairdresser and attended Lighthouse Christian Fellowship.

Zona is survived by husband Jerry Purkey, daughter Ramona Feiteira (Chris), son Jason Purkey (Cyndi) and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony Martin.

A graveside service was held Thursday.
