Waves – Licia Mae Midgett Kee, 57, of Waves died Tuesday, October 30 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Born in Atlanta, GA on January 15, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Annie Gray Mades Midgett and Luke Bradshaw Midgett.

After graduating from East Carolina University, Licia began her teaching career. She would spend the next 33-years dedicating herself to her students at Cape Hatteras Elementary School. A devoted teacher, she was even more so dedicated to her family.

Licia is survived by her husband of 33-years, Stanley James Kee; son, Stanley James Kee II; daughter, Shanna Leigh Kee; grandson, Stanley James Kee III; sister, Debra Midgett Hooper and husband, Elvin; sister-in-law, Julia Midgett; two nieces, Kristina Ann Hooper and Charlotte Midgett Lewis; three nephews, Luke Bradshaw Midgett III, Brad Weatherby and Charles Weatherby; great-niece, Kirra Ann Giblin; as well as many friends and colleagues.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Luke Bradshaw Midgett, Jr.; a sister, Barbara Ann Midgett Smithwick; and two nephews, Charles Bryan Midgett and Howard Kyle Smithwick.

A memorial service was held Saturday, November 3 at Fair Haven United Methodist Church with Rev. Timothy Fitch officiating.
