Margaret Etheridge Bateman

Margaret Etheridge Bateman, 96, of Creswell died Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Tyrrell House in Columbia.

Born October 10, 1922 in Tyrrell County she was the daughter of the late Wesley Gray Etheridge and Willie Snell Etheridge and was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Enoch “Ed” Bateman; son-in-law, Johnnie Patrick Bass; sisters, Susie Pitcher and Elizabeth Stallings; brothers, Frank Etheridge and Wesley Etheridge; great grandson, John Wayne Patrick. Margaret was a retired bookkeeper with Bateman Logging Company, Inc. and a member of Creswell Baptist Church.  She was a former member of the Pettigrew Extension Homemakers Club, Extension Citizenship Leader for Washington County, 4-H Leader for Lake Phelps and member of Creswell Baptist Church WMU.

Survivors daughter Betty Ann Bateman Bass of Edenton; sons, Wayne Bateman and wife Brenda of Creswell and Joe Bateman and wife Christine of Cullman, AL.; grandchildren, Debbie Bateman, Julie Laney and husband Eric, Amy Patrick and husband Heath, Lori Armstrong and husband James, Leann McGowan and husband Quinton, Peggy Bass, Patrick Bass and wife April, April Nordstrom and husband Kenny and David Bass and wife Laura,; great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.s

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Creswell Baptist Church, Creswell with Reverend Jim Parrish and Pastor Eddie Coltrain officiating.
