Dorothy Jane Thompson, 89, of Southern Shores, died December 7 surrounded by family. She was born on March 19, 1929 in Bronx, New York to Harold and Agatha Wood.

Survivors include daughters Lorraine Hock, Middletown, NJ and Diane Libretto, Southern Shores; grandchildren Ashley Libretto, Kaitlin Moore, Alexis Weber, Michael Hock, Matthew Hock and Thomas Libretto; and two great grandchildren Madison and Jack Weber.

Dorothy was a member of the Nassau County police department in Long Island and moved to Southern Shores in 1989, with her mother to join her sister Florence Porter of Southern Shores. She attended All Saints church, performed volunteer work in the local community and enjoyed spending quality time with her daughters and her grandchildren.

A private service for the immediate family was be held December 10. In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the OBX SPCA, 1031 Driftwood Drive, Manteo, NC 27954 252-475 5620.
