Marvin Lee Waterhouse Jr., 82, of Manteo, died at The Outer Banks Hospital on Thursday, December 6, 2018.

“Buddy” or “Bubby” as he was known to family, was born in Accomack County, Va. on January 3, 1936. He was the son of the late Marrion Agnes Birch and Marvin Waterhouse.

His employment as a driver hauling seafood on a “fish truck” took him up and down the East Coast and he made many friends along the way in the seafood business. It was through work and friends that he met his longtime partner Mabel Payne Shelton. Next to Mabel, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life.

He is preceded in death by mother Marrion Agnes Birch, father Marvin Waterhouse and longtime partner Mabel Payne Shelton.

Survivors include grandchildren, Kate Shelton of Manteo, Riley Shelton and wife Kelly of Manns Harbor; great-grandchildren Demarcus Henderson, Jr. and Jameson Weyla; family member Gail Shelton of Manteo and close friend and neighbor “Mr. Tom” Moore of Manteo.

His final wishes were to be cremated and the family will hold private services in his remembrance.
