Carlton Ward Garrish, 87, of Ocracoke, died Friday, December 14, 2018, at his home.

A native of Ocracoke, he was born June 18, 1931, to the late Ruby E. Austin Garrish and James D. Garrish. Ward retired from the State of North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Ward is survived by his wife, Linda Teeter Garrish; children Sandy Boos Morris (Marco) and Warwick V. Boos II (Kristen) all of Ocracoke; grandchildren Abigail Morris of Ocracoke, Brittany Boos of Newport, Brieanna Boos of Newport, Rebecca Boos of Ocracoke, Brendan Boos of Newport, Katie Kinnion of Ocracoke,and Caroline Stocks of Ocracoke; brother Walter Potter Garrish of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandchild JT Boos; brother James D. Garrish; and sisters-in-law Dora Jane Garrish and Germaine Garrish.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 23 at Ocracoke Community Cemetery. In the event of adverse weather, the service will be held at Ocracoke Assembly of God.  The family will receive friends and relatives after the service at the home.
