Philip Calvin Sawyer, 81, of Manteo, died Sunday, January 20, 2019. A native of Currituck County, he was born February 4, 1937 to the late Minnie Lee Toler and Archie Sawyer.

Having served his country honorably, Philip was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He then spent the next forty plus years as an automobile mechanic.

Survivors include his companion of fifty-four years, Polly L. Sawyer; son-in-law Loubet Cahoon; grandson Seth Landon Cahoon; granddaughter Sarah Katarina Cahoon and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Sonja Lee Cahoon and brother Norman Sawyer.

In keeping with Philip’s wishes, there will be no service at this time.
