Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative will require multiple outages over the coming weeks to energize, test and connect the new transmission cable on the new bridge over Oregon Inlet.

On Wednesday and Thursday, February 27 and 28 Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands will be served by diesel generators.

The cooperative asks that its members make reasonable efforts to conserve electricity from 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 to 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28.

A switching outage will affect Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon for 30 minutes on Wednesday at 8 a.m. and 5 minutes on Thursday at 2 p.m.
