The First Annual Hatteras Village Waterfowl Festival, held February 22-24, featured a weekend of education, amazement and dining.

The weekend event started Friday night with a dinner called Fin, Feather and Bourbon featuring dishes created by Hatteras village chef Dee Callahan.

On Saturday, at the village’s Community Building displays of locally produced and/or owned decoys graced tables.

Inside the village’s Civic Center, displays from various vendors were set up. Outside, an event tent featured presentations about hunting clubs, falconry and a duck calling contest.

Boat trips were taken to duck blinds, pintail painting happened at an art studio and a bird walk was held at the Ocean Center.
