Dominion Energy has awarded hundreds of critical community needs grants. This year, $1.6 million will be shared by more than 200 nonprofit organizations providing essential human services in 12 states.

The Interfaith Community Outreach, Inc., a Kill Devil Hills-based nonprofit, was awarded a $10,000 grant to be used to provide help for uninsured and under-insured residents with medical or dental emergencies, including treatment, transportation, cancer support, prescriptions and counseling.

Jenniffer Albanese, ICO executive director, says there is a lot of need in Dare and Currituck counties. She explained with many people living paycheck to paycheck it isn’t just the poor that need assistance. A lot of area people need temporary assistance when faced with off-season unemployment, disaster assistance or medical emergencies.
