The 30th Annual Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, held March 17, featured 2019 Dare County Special Olympians as grand marshals.

The parade started at Mile Post 11.5 – Bladen Street and Beach Road (South Virginia Dare Trail) – and went north on Beach Road to Admiral Street, about a half mile shorter than usual.

The route change was due to stormwater improvement construction in the Gallery Row area of Nags Head. Admiral Street was selected because a traffic light is at the street’s intersection with South Croatan Highway (the Bypass), making for a safer way to depart the area.

The parade has grown to include over 100 entrants with 8,000 attendees looking on. It is the largest St. Patrick’s Parade in North Carolina.

Prizes were awarded following the parade for Best Overall; Best Float; Best Unit; and Best Band/Music group.
