If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. – Romans 10:9-10.

What does Easter mean to you? Some will focus on the Easter bunny, feasts and chocolate, while there may be others who attend church, more as an obligation than a choice. And then there will be those that know the meaning and reason for Easter and will rejoice all day!!

The truth of Easter is that Jesus died for us so that we may live. It is the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.  Our sins are covered, we are forgiven, and eternal life awaits us when we are called home. But we must first believe and confess our belief with our words. For years I felt saddened when Easter approached. It seems I couldn’t get past the brutal crucifixion. But then I saw the joy in the resurrection. A second chance. A new beginning. A new life in Him. Finally, seeing and realizing the glory I had missed before. It is His gift to us . . . it doesn’t have to be earned, it is by His grace that we are saved. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works so that no one can boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9. However your day is spent, take time for Him and if you haven’t proclaimed Jesus as your Lord and Savior, there is no better time. Blessings!

Reflections by the Sea runs each Sunday in The Coastland Times.
