Pocosin Arts has announced the “Riverview Supper Club,” a regular event featuring regional chefs and artwork.

The first supper club is May 18 at the Riverview Building, 107 Water Street, Columbia.

On this first gathering, a soft shell crab dinner and other local fare will be prepared by chefs Ollie Inglis and Kelly Burton.

The featured artist is Lynn Nash. The artwork open house, which is free and open to the public, will happen before dinner from 5 to 6 p.m.

Dinner is a ticketed event, $60 per person, and will start at 6:30 p.m. Registration by May 11 is available at pocosinarts.org/25years or call 252-796-2787 to register. Guests may also make reservations to stay overnight in Riverview, Pocosin Arts Studio Apartment or Pocosin Arts Lodge.

Ollie Inglis grew up working and helping on her family’s Somerset Farm in Edenton. Both she and Kelly Burton orchestrate dinners by using what grows and flourishes in the field. Their “love of cooking and cooking for love” allows them to prepare family-style meals where folks can connect with each other, the environment and food.

Artist Lynn Nash is an abstract oil painter whose work focuses on how abstract images interact with us on a daily basis. “It helps me as an artist to look at connectedness in all things, seeing what is there, what might be or what used to be. I enjoy finding new ways of seeing.”

Alligator Minor will entertain with a music mix including influences of bluegrass, blues, Americana and folk. Andy Keeler plays the banjo while Carol Lee provides the vocals and plays the guitar.

Pocosin Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of those in local communities and beyond by providing opportunities for discovery, creativity and lifelong learning through the arts. The craft school offers workshops taught by seasoned artists in woodworking, painting, clay, metalwork, and digital fabrication. Adult community classes are held in pottery and metals along with year-round youth programs, Art After School and Summer Art Camp.

This year marks Pocosin’s 25th Anniversary, and staff members are excited to celebrate with the opening of two new facilities: the historic Riverview building, where the supper club will take place, and the Smith Lab, which is comprised of 3-D printers, a laser cutter, ShopBot CNC router, vinyl plotter and woodshop.
