Nags Head Elementary students complete D.A.R.E. program

Nags Head Elementary School fifth graders were recognized in March for their completion of the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. During the 12 week course, NHES School Resource Officer Shane Allen taught students ways to make strong, solid decisions, deal with stressful situations, health effects of drugs and alcohol and how to report and stand up to bullying. The students were also taught how to safely use and dispose of prescription and over the counter medication.

D.A.R.E. essay contest winners included Judah Carlyle, winner; Keira Villalobos-Cantarero, first runner up; Nina Quiros, second runner up. D.A.R.E. video contest winners included Jack Cooper, Wyatt Davies, Nolan Rollins and Chase Davies, winners and Alex Lutz, John Garay Martinez and Jonathan Kloeckl, runners up.
