Is your child interested in learning to prepare food? Are you curious about where food comes from? Currituck County 4-H is hosting a multi-county, three day culinary workshop for youth ages 9 to 14. Participants will engage in hands-on cooking challenges that involve food preparation techniques, insight into local food programs and investigations into the importance of healthy eating and physical activity.

Your child will learn the basics of kitchen safety, kitchen etiquette and will have the opportunity to prepare a variety of foods including main dishes, snacks, desserts and appetizers. He or she will also have the opportunity to participate in a “Chopped Challenge” on the final day of the camp. The workshop will take place June 17-19 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Currituck County NC Cooperative Extension at 120 Community Way in Barco.

The tuition for this camp is $35 and includes a field trip to a local farm, lunch and snacks for each of the days and goodies for your child to bring home.
