Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12

Almost everyone has a device or access to one. No, I am not talking of pacemakers or new knees but devices of the electronic kind! Phones, tablets and computers. All ages seem to enjoy the convenience of these handy tools that makes staying connected and sharing lives so easy. We are all familiar with the term “like.” In social media, we are given the option to “like” something if we agree with it or find it pleasing, like a photograph. If we like a particular thing a lot, we may want to “follow” it so we can enjoy more of it. Perhaps a page or column or a blog that resonates with our mind and heart. If we go so far as to “share” what we like, then it is the ultimate compliment. We are trying to make someone’s day, share a laugh, or pass along some good wisdom we can all use. Maybe even share breaking news that affects many. It is the world we live in today. There are many benefits to this new technology if we are mindful of using it for positive benefit.

As we learn the ways and words of the Lord in the Bible, we may read something that speaks to us and we may highlight our Bible. Maybe write a note in the margin or even underline the passage to make sure we can refer to it often. When we feel like God is speaking to us, we often wish to follow His Word on the subject to grow more, learn more, build faith and wisdom. And when we have concluded we have learned much and it has spiritually impacted our life, we wish to share it with our loved ones, friends or teach others because we want others to benefit too. That is when our mission of discipleship begins.

Our faith and discipleship encourages us to like, follow and share and then as Christians It is our duty to lead. Just as the light from a lighthouse leads the the way for a boater to travel, we have the same guidance in following the Lord. And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.-Jeremiah 3:15  We are charged with sharing our faith with others, offering to pray, giving Christian encouragement to those in need. Like, Follow and Share Jesus today! Then Lead. God will direct our steps if we ask Him in prayer to do so.
