Barbara Ann Hunter Friend, age 83, died June 19 at her vacation cottage in Kill Devil Hills. Barbara was a beloved wife of 65 years and a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She graduated from West High School in 1954 and was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church by the Sea in Nags Head.

Barbara was preceded in death by daughter Lori Lee Gerber. Survivors include husband Russell E. Friend; daughters Diana Lee (Harry) Seaman, Vicki Lee (Addison) Clark and Teri Lee (Pat) O’Conner; grandchildren Donnie (Kristen) Naegel, Greg (Jessica) Gerber and Lauren (Spencer) Conte; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral and burial will be held back home in Ohio by Schoedinger Funeral Home of Columbus. Memorial donations are welcome at Albemarle Hospice, 208 Hastings Lane, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
